Posted: 15 Oct 2009 ITS SAD SUZY, dont no why but the Godlington heath area seems prone for some reason had one last year, seems the Purbeck heaths are either bulldozed or trampled up by cattle as a management system used by the RSPB or wrecked by idiots causing fires keith LOCAL ICYNICAL CELTIC ECO WARRIOR AND FAILED DRUID |

Posted: 11 Dec 2010 i didnt have a computer when you posted this suz. i was still living in my Stone Age vaccuum. / thanks for topic starting and highlighting though. a sad event for herp lovers. if the fire was deliberate then i cannot comprehend the unthinking actions of the perpetrators. lives die in fires. human or otherwise. ben Diversity. |

Posted: 12 Dec 2010 well i guess without tv/mobile you have more time to experience wildlife first-hand and further your knowledge/experience. while your food is going off. assuming youre not addicted to the computer instead that is! further to your original post, i remember visiting the MEN-AN-TOL in Cornwall a few years ago and there had been a heath fire. all around was blackened and destroyed. yet surprisingly, right in the middle of it all we found an unharmed adder moving about. perhaps it survived by being down a rabbit hole during the blaze who knows? however, before we could think about rescuing and relocating it, it disappeared into the debris at our feet and we lost it. ben Diversity. |
